Site Visit Highlights: Proposed Mazingira House in Watamu Ward.
Today, Environment and Climate Change Chief Officer Zamzam Ali visited the proposed site for Mazingira House in Watamu Ward, which will host the Climate Change Unit and serve as a space for an Innovations and Research Center. This transformative project aims to empower communities by connecting environmental experts with the communities and driving sustainable solutions to combat climate change.
In the spirit of leaving no one behind, all climate change initiatives, supported by FLLoCA and Kilifi County Government counterpart funding, are developed from the grassroots level by our dedicated Ward Climate Change Planning Committee.
With hope and determination, we are taking bold steps toward a greener future while enhancing the capacities of our climate change actors. This initiative is further backed by His Excellency the Governor Gideon Maitha Mung’aro reinforcing our commitment to fostering resilience and creating lasting change in our communities.
In attendance were key Watamu leaders, including Watamu Ward MCA and Majority Leader , Watamu Municipal Manager, Watamu Ward Administrator, Kilifi North Development Control Officer and the Watamu Sublocation Chief, whose presence underscores a unified commitment to this essential project.
