Hon. Omar Said

Hon. Omar Said is a distinguished leader in Kilifi County, currently serving as the Chief Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water and Environment. With a profound commitment to enhancing water management and environmental conservation, he plays a crucial role in overseeing the county’s water resources and environmental initiatives.

Hon. Omar Said holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Nairobi. He furthered his expertise with a Master’s degree in Water Resources Management from Egerton University. His academic background equips him with a solid foundation in both environmental science and water resource management, enabling him to address the complex challenges faced by Kilifi County.

Before his appointment as CECM, Hon. Omar Said gained extensive experience in public service and community development. His work is characterized by a focus on sustainable water management practices, efficient resource allocation, and proactive measures to address water scarcity and environmental challenges. His leadership has been instrumental in implementing effective water rationing programs and addressing issues related to borehole maintenance across the county.

His mission is to ensure the sustainable management of Kilifi’s water resources, safeguard the environment, and address climate change challenges through innovative and community-focused solutions. His vision is to transform Kilifi into a model of effective water management and environmental stewardship, ensuring a clean, safe, and resilient environment for all residents. Notable projects under his leadership include the Water Rationing Program, which addresses water scarcity issues through efficient management and maintenance of boreholes;

Borehole Rehabilitation, which has upgraded malfunctioning boreholes in Rabai and Kaloleni subcounties to improve water access; and various Environmental Conservation Initiatives aimed at reducing deforestation, managing waste, and promoting reforestation efforts. Hon. Omar Said’s strategic planning and effective execution of these projects have significantly improved water accessibility, contributed to environmental sustainability, and strengthened community resilience against climate challenges.
