📢 Attention Kilifi residents and business owners!
Today, Chief Officer for Environment and Climate Change, Zamzam Ali, and Chief Officer for Lands and Physical Planning, Joe Tete, visited Kilifi Bofa beaches, specifically B10 beach and Vidazini beach, in response to community complaints regarding illegal structures and noise nuisance.
During our visit, we discussed proper solid waste disposal practices with the beach business operators . We emphasized the importance of collaboration between the county government, stakeholders, and business owners to create a temporary eco-friendly structure that ensures security and environmental protection.
Furthermore, we provided education to business owners and oparators regarding the laws on noise pollution. It is vital for all businesses and stakeholders to understand that business permits and liquor licenses only authorize operation and alcohol sales, not the playing of loud music.
To maintain a harmonious environment, it is essential to abide by the law. All music and loud sounds must be turned off by 11pm or played at a volume that does not disturb the immediate neighbors’ right to a healthy environment. Only licensed soundproofed nightclubs are permitted to operate and play music until 3am.
As the county government, we are dedicated to finding a balance between business operations and the well-being of the community, particularly during this festive season. We were also joined by the Director of Environment and Development Control Officer during our visit.
To all stakeholders let’s work together towards creating a vibrant and sustainable environment for everyone to enjoy.
