Environment and Climate Change Principal Secretary Eng Festus K Ng’eno has called on Chief Officers in charge of Environment and Climate Change and Finance and Economic Planning to take charge and advise Ward Committees so as to deliver programs that are impactful and sustainable.
PS Ng’eno spoke on Tuesday during a Council of Governors workshop on climate financing under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action Programme (FLoCCA) for Chief Officers at a Naivasha Hotel.
On the carbon markets, the PS said the responsibility of implementation will be county-specific, and counties will be able to initiate projects to incentivize emissions reduction.
PS Ng’eno said the accounting officers should take advantage of World Bank Investments grants to deliver on projects that are impactful to local communities that are at the bottom of the pyramid.
