Today, marks the fifth day of NECC investigations in Kilifi County regarding complaints of environmental degradation received from its residents.

The NECC team, led by the Committee Secretary Ms. Mary Njugu, is presently conducting a public baraza attended by over 150 area residents at Pingilikani-Chonyi, Chasimba Location in Kilifi County.

The purpose of the baraza is to gather detailed information about the proposed establishment of a cement plant in the ecologically sensitive area.

In attendance; Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Robbert Yesse, Mr. Alex Ziro – MP Kilifi South representative, ACC, William Odeyo – CDE NEMA, Mr. Jimmy Yaa Director of Environment County Government of Kilifi, Ms. Eunice Govi – Ward Administrator Kilifi County, Ms. Pascal Nyale – Department of Public Health, area chiefs, Mushajaa (Investor) representative Mr. Daniel Kiige and the local Community led by the Chonyi Council of elders
