A meeting was conducted focused on establishing synergy between various Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and County devolved functions to ensure coordinated enforcement efforts. Addressing complaints from residents regarding illegal mining activities and noise pollution, which have raised security and health concerns, was a key priority. The collaboration of the county environment committee comprising national and county government was highlighted as essential for effectively tackling these challenges and implementing directives from the Ministry of Interior and National Administration led by CS Kithure Kindiki to enhance security measures and environmental conservation efforts within the county.
Moreover, the meeting emphasized the importance of the 15 billion tree planting/growing initiative in alignment with the national government’s goal to increase tree cover. By integrating security agendas with environmental conservation efforts, the aim is to create a safer and more sustainable environment for all residents of Kilifi County. This collaborative approach underscores the significance of synergy and coordination between security and environmental sectors to address pressing issues and promote the well-being of the Kilifi community.
