An official inception meeting was held in Kilifi County by Hand in Hand Eastern Africa for their Waste to Profit project. Chief Officer Zamzam Ali and Director of Environment Mr. Jimmy Yaa attended a forum with Kilifi stakeholders and community leaders at the Kilifi Convention Center in Bofa. Hand in Hand Eastern Africa is an NGO dedicated to combating poverty by supporting sustainable enterprises and employment opportunities, particularly for youth and women.
The purpose of the forum was to introduce the organization to Kilifi County and discuss their new project, “Waste to Profit,” specifically the Waste Management for a Circular Economy and Sustainable Enterprise Development (WASP) project in partnership with Kilifi Department of Water, Environment, Climate Change & Forestry WASP aims to mobilize community members, establish enterprises, create jobs, and empower individuals in the waste management value chain. The WASP project will be implemented in Kilifi County over a four-year period. The Department looks forward to partnering with Hand in Hand EA to benefit the people of Kilifi.
